Feature packed XC full suspension bike with asymmetric frame
BOXED ASYMMETRIC FORCE DISSIPATION
By reducing peak stresses at points in the frame, the entire bike can be constructed lighter. On a full suspension bike, this becomes even more important to have ‘balanced’ kinematic through the middle plane of the frame, that is not bias toward the drive or non-drive side. The drive side sees long periods of loading, of relative low to medium force. Where the non-drive side sees momentousness loading, of a far higher magnitude. So very different forces – localized to a specific side.
POP geometry or Position of Power geometry moves the rider in a more efficient riding posture, more balanced climbing and descending position and engages larger muscle groups for power delivery.
WHY IT’S BEST.
- AL SX is a feature packed Stratos AL for the guys that does not want or need a dropper.
- Very similar in specification to the AL3, the AL SX is a 12 speed SRAM Eagle SX bike. That means reliable performance, quality shifting and sensible gear ratios for climbing and descending.
- POP geometry or Position of Power geometry moves the rider in a more efficient riding posture, more balanced climbing and descending position and engages larger muscle groups for power delivery.
- Stratos AL SX can fit two water bottles in the main triangle, one full size on the DT and one small bottle on the ST.
- AL SX is dropper post compatible should you in the future feel that you would like to give it a go.
- Featuring BURST Pivot suspension, with 120mm of travel front and rear, the AL SX is ready for when you advance your technical riding skills!
Asymmetric tubes allow for the dispersion of shock forces between the top tube and downtube. At the riding sag point most of the shock forces are directed along the top tube. At suspension bottom-out, the rear shock rotates and shock forces are split between the top tube and downtube via the single sided support strut.
BURST PIVOT SUSPENSION
BURST Pivot is the XC/Light Trail implementation of our popular BURST platforms. It combines great pedaling performance with a progressive endstroke to create a platform that reacts intuitively to different circumstances. Large bearings in the seatstay mounted pivots, near the dropouts, ensure a good service life.
DROPPER POST READY/COMPATIBLE
With dropper posts becoming standard on all disciplines of mountain biking, this was a no-brainer; what's more interesting is where this technology is headed. Stratos can accommodate much longer droppers, giving the rider more options and freedom of movement.
POP GEOMETRY ADAPTED FOR XC/TRAIL/MARATHON
As modern XCO and XCM courses become more technical, we've adapted the bikes to suit not only the current trails, but also where XC is headed. Slacker head angles and longer wheelbases, along with other geometry and suspension tweaks allow for a bike that is more capable and forgiving on the downhills, but does not sacrifice any uphill ability in the process. Stratos AL has 120mm travel and has some geometry changes that give a slightly more relaxed ride that its carbon fibre counterpart, aimed at riders looking to spend longer days in the saddle or dabble in trail riding.
SHEATHED CABLE ROUTING
All the looks of internal cable routing, but without the hassle. Cables run underneath a polyurethane sheath on the downtube, which hides the cables but can still be removed for ease of maintenance.
Get the great looks and smooth lines of carbon fibre, without the cost implications.
SX EAGLE 1X DRIVETRAIN
The SX Eagle 1x12spd drivetrain offers plenty of gear options for both climbing and descending. A 12 Speed SRAM Eagle drivetrain, compliment the Stratos' versatile nature.
TAPERED PIVOT AND BEARING DETAILS
The massive main pivot uses angular contact headset bearings, with the larger 52mm bearing used on the drive side to cope with the additional chain forces. The angular contact design allows for bearing wear to be tightened out - the same as would be done at the headtube.
TWO BOTTLE MOUNTS IN THE MAIN TRIANGLE
When is comes to water bottles, two is definitely better than one.

FIND YOUR FIT.
Do these bikes have internal dropper post routing?
Yes, the frame allows for an interally routed dropper seatpost.
Does this bike allow for internal cable routing?
No, the Stratos AL range has sheathed cable routing. Which means Cables run underneath a polyurethane sheath on the downtube, which hides the cables but can still be removed for ease of maintenance.
What is the weight limit on this bike?
100kg - Max rider weight
What bearings does this frame use?
Stratos uses headset bearings in the main pivot. These are Token C83-TBT bearings. Contact your local Silverback distributor for more info.
What maintenance do IGUS bushings require?
Intermittent cleaning is the only maintenace IGUS bushings require. Ensure they are dry and clean of dust with a paper towel. Do not grease IGUS bushings since this will attract dust - IGUS bushings are self-lubricating and do not need to be greased.
Why does this frame not have a flex stay like Stratos CF?
Aluminium has a limited fatigue life, meaning that it will always fatigue eventually. By using a bearing at the rear pivot instead of relying on frame flex, we can greatly extend the life of your frame. Since carbon fiber can be designed for indefinite fatigue life, we can be confident that Stratos CF will not fail by fatigue.
Can I put a front derailleur of Stratos AL?
No. The entire Stratos range is designed with wide range 1x drivetrains in mind. This allows for wider bearing stances and a stiffer frame
