ASYMMETRIC FULL SUSPENSION ALLOY FRAME WITH POP GEOMETRY.
Asymmetric tubes allow for the dispersion of shock forces between the top tube and downtube. At the riding sag point most of the shock forces are directed along the top tube. At suspension bottom-out, the rear shock rotates and shock forces are split between the top tube and downtube via the single sided support strut.
POP GEOMETRY ADAPTED FOR XC/TRAIL/MARATHON
As modern XCO and XCM courses become more technical, we've adapted the bikes to suit not only the current trails, but also where XC is headed. Slacker head angles and longer wheelbases, along with other geometry and suspension tweaks allow for a bike that is more capable and forgiving on the downhills, but does not sacrifice any uphill ability in the process. Stratos AL has 120mm travel and has some geometry changes that give a slightly more relaxed ride that its carbon fibre counterpart, aimed at riders looking to spend longer days in the saddle or dabble in trail riding.
WHY IT’S BEST.
- Stratos AL3 shares the innovative alloy frame found on the AL1 and AL2. The asymmetric shape, smooth welds and cable routing really has to be seen up close to appreciate the amount of detail that has gone into the design.
- Stratos AL3 is ready for the avid weekend warrior. Quality components and a superb suspension system makes for a bike that's equally at home on the local trails and start line of a marathon race.
- A 12 speed Eagle drivetrain gives you all the benefits of 1x. Easier climbing gears, decent top speed, adequate chain retention over rough terrain, a single shifter to make life easier and evenly spaced gears, to keep cadence natural and steady while shifting up or down.
- AL3 is a POP geometry bike - the rider is in the Position of Power, meaning stronger power delivery, better balance and improved handling.
- With a shorter seat tube and dropper post compatibility, you can buy the AL series of bikes to suit your ideal reach and not just to suit your inseam - size up or down depending on your preferred setup.
- Featuring 120mm of suspension travel front and rear, the AL3 is ready for when you step up your technical skills!
1X DRIVETRAIN SPECIFIC DESIGN
Front derailleurs are dead. With that comes a wider main pivot bearing stance for increased stiffness.
ASYMMETRIC 6061 ALLOY FRAME
Asymmetric tubes allow for the dispersion of shock forces between the top tube and downtube. At the riding sag point most of the shock forces are directed along the top tube. At suspension bottom-out, the rear shock rotates and shock forces are split between the top tube and downtube via the single sided support strut. Smooth welds create the great look and smooth lines of carbon fibre, without the cost implications.
BURST PIVOT SUSPENSION
BURST Pivot is the XC/Light Trail implementation of our popular BURST platforms. It combines great pedaling performance with a progressive endstroke to create a platform that reacts intuitively to different circumstances. Seatstay mounted pivots - Large bearings near the dropouts ensure a good service life.
DROPPER POST READY/COMPATIBLE
With dropper posts becoming standard on all disciplines of mountain biking, this was a no-brainer; what's more interesting is where this technology is headed. Stratos can accomodate much longer droppers, giving the rider more options and freedom of movement
Metric shocks perform better and have optional bearing hardware for low friction rotation, supported on the rocker side.

SHEATHED CABLE ROUTING
All the looks of internal cable routing, but without the hassle. Cables run underneath a polyurethane sheath on the downtube, which hides the cables but can still be removed for ease of maintenance.
TAPERED PIVOT AND BEARING DETAILS
The massive main pivot uses angular contact headset bearings, with the larger 52mm bearing used on the drive side to cope with the additional chain forces. The angular contact design allows for bearing wear to be tightened out - the same as would be done at the headset and topcap.

FIND YOUR FIT.
If I wanted to route my cables internally, can I drill a tiny hole on the frame to fit the cables through?
No, drilling wholes in your frame will void your warranty.
How much travel does the fork on this bike have?
Would I be able to fit a waterbottle in the front triangle?
Yes, the front triangle is able to take a waterbottle.
What bearings does this frame use?
Stratos uses headset bearings in the main pivot. These are Token C83-TBT bearings. Contact your local Silverback distributor for more info.
Why does this frame not have a flex stay like Stratos CF?
Aluminium has a limited fatigue life, meaning that it will always fatigue eventually. By using a bearing at the rear pivot instead of relying on frame flex, we can greatly extend the life of your frame. Since carbon fiber can be designed for indefinite fatigue life, we can be confident that Stratos CF will not fail by fatigue.
What maintenance do IGUS bushings require?
Intermittent cleaning is the only maintenace IGUS bushings require. Ensure they are dry and clean of dust with a paper towel. Do not grease IGUS bushings since this will attract dust - IGUS bushings are self-lubricating and do not need to be greased.
Can I put a front derailleur of Stratos AL?
No. The entire Stratos range is designed with wide range 1x drivetrains in mind. This allows for wider bearing stances and a stiffer frame
